Last weekend we were in Little Rock, Arkansas looking for a place to live once Daniel graduates in a few weeks. Yep. We are moving! I will post more next week about all of the things happening on that front. We are really excited about this next phase of our life and ministry!
Friday is for Food: 20 Minute Skillet Salmon
I should start by saying that I've never really liked fish. I only recently started eating salmon because I know it is good for me and my husband really likes it. So I've started experimenting with salmon recipes in order to boost our healthy eating and to get myself over the whole "I don't like fish" phobia.
Friday is for Fotos!
It's that time of year...March Madness! I honestly don't remember knowing about March Madness until a few years ago. I know that sounds crazy, but I must have just not been paying attention all this time. Daniel and I filled out our brackets on Sunday and have been anxiously watching the results pour in. I won the whole thing a couple of years ago and so now I feel like every year I have to continue the trend. This is a lot of pressure. Last year was not so good, but I have high hopes for this year.
Friday is For Food: Easy Beef Enchiladas
To say that I love Mexican food is an understatement. If I could eat it every day I would. I. Love. It! So I am always looking for new Mexican food recipes. Kraft has a really easy and yummy beef enchilada recipe that I tried out last year and plan on trying out again this month.
Friday is for Food: Pork Chops and Potatoes
I know. It sounds really basic. But it actually is pretty flavorful. It's simple (although it takes a little bit of time to cook) and it includes pretty basic ingredients. A friend of mine made a cookbook for me before I got married. It includes recipes that don't take a lot of time or elaborate ingredients. Both great things when you are working full time and your husband is finishing seminary. So here is the Friday recipe for your taste buds enjoyment!
Friday is for Fotos
This picture captures my husband so perfectly. The morning of his grandma's funeral we all hung around the hotel. A lot of his cousins have kids now and this sweet girl is one of them. Daniel loves kids and he loves serving. He could not wait to hold her and play with her. And in typical Daniel fashion he asked if he could feed her. He knew it would serve her parents (and he knew he would get time with her!). So this picture warms my heart today. I hope it warms your heart too!
Happy Friday!
2010 in Pictures
This blog has been kind of silent for over a week. Thanks for reading even though I have been absent. We had a great time at my parents in Florida relaxing, enjoying sweet fellowship, and just spending time with my family. It was a treat! I got this idea from a blog friend and decided to start the new year with a picture review of 2010. It was a big one and a sad one. We love Jesus more because of it. And we love each other more too. For that we are thankful. So here is what our 2010 looked like.
All Time Favorite Christmas Memory
Countdown to Christmas
There is a lot of Christmas cheer going on around the Reissig apartment right now. The tree is lit. Presents are wrapped. Candles are burning. On Thursday night (after Daniel gets off work) we begin our trip to Florida to stay with my parents for Christmas. We are staying the night in Atlanta and will make it to the Sunshine State just in time to go to the Christmas Eve service on Friday night. We only go to my parents once a year, so I am practically giddy about it.
Friday is for a Favorite Christmas Memory
Thanksgiving and Christmas are filled with traditions in my family. My brothers and I love all of the various traditions our family does, and it is even more exciting when we have invited other family or friends into our traditions on Christmas morning. We didn't grow up around our grandparents or extended family, so our Christmas' were just us 6 Tarter's. I can think of two particular years where we had family or friends as "guests" on Christmas morning. Christmas can be a lonely time for many people. For older people with grown children it can be a time of great sadness and longing for what once was. For others it might just be that you can't afford to get home this Christmas. It just makes me so sad when I think of people being alone on Christmas Day. But that's another post. Back to the memory.
